To me decluttering isn’t bare and boring. Decluttering is only having items that as the great William Morris quoted, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
My home is Organised and I believe beautiful too. I have stuff that I love and I believe to be beautiful. I’m forever changing furniture around or mixing up accessories for it to feel like a new room with a new lease of life.
Everything needs a home. Kitchen drawers and cupboards should only have things you use and need. How many plastic containers do you really need? Do they have matching lids? Can you find what you are looking for? Do you have to scrabble for dishes, pots and pans? Kitchens need to be organised and functional. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Masterchef or a stab and ping cook, your kitchen needs to work but also be beautiful.
I love sourcing tins for storage, mostly I re use, recycle and utilise for storing oils and utensils. I also use other items from around the house to add colour and life.
Have a look at what you have and how your stuff can have a new lease of life or if it’s time to donate to charity to let someone else have something that they will know to be useful and beautiful.
Good old William Morris, I bet he would have loved the decluttering world.
If you find it all too daunting, give me a shout!
